What is a Flexible Benefit Plan (FBP)? #
A Flexible Benefit Plan (FBP) allows employees to customise their salary components and structure their own CTC (Cost to Company) based on personal preferences. With FBP in OfficePortal’s payroll settings, HR admins can control when employees can modify their salary structure by managing FBP declaration lock and unlock periods.
How to Unlock the Flexible Benefit Plan (FBP) Declaration #
To allow employees to personalise their salary structure, follow these steps:
Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Payroll Settings > General Settings > Preferences > Flexible Benefit Plan.
Step 2: Click the Unlock button to enable employees to update their FBP salary declaration.
Step 3: Click Edit.
Step 4: Under “Currently FBP declaration is locked. When do you want to unlock the FBP declaration?”, select your preferred release date:
- Now – FBP declaration opens immediately after saving, allowing employees to update their salary components right away.
- Specific Date – Enter a date in the Unlock Date field. The FBP declaration will open for employees on that date.
Step 5: Under “When do you want to lock the FBP declaration again?”, select a cut-off date to automatically close the FBP window.
Step 6: Enter the desired lock date to define when the FBP declaration period ends.
Step 7: Click Save.
Example: If you set the unlock date as April 01, 2026 and the lock date as April 30, 2026, employees can update their FBP salary declaration between those two dates.
